How to bring OpenSc to the frontpage?

Ok, so open source code is great and all but is that really enough to stand out anymore? Even if this site gets some unique code, the same day or a day later another site will already have it. So how can we get some more attention?

We already have the dead forum section of OpenSC community projects. Nothing happens there but talk. We also have something I thought was kinda cool in the competition section, the bring attention to OpenSC competition. I doubt that will go far though since most people don't have the resources to do something amazing with it, other than spam some YouTube video or other forums or something.

So again, how can we really bring some attention to the site, to make people want to come here instead of some of our competitors?

I think, and I might be alone on this, that OpenSC needs to keep up with the other fast moving sites, but what exactly does that entail?

We could do another RAT or some sort of project, the problem is that community projects don't work so well because of arguments (who did more, etc). Also if you open source a project like a RAT it will be ripped to shit, therefore we would have to keep it closed source. If we did make a closed source project we could use the forum API to lock it so the user would have to be active here to even use it.

reine wanted to do a open source crypter and keep it updated, but then again the discussion came up that no one will contribute.

We also deal with time constraints, I myself get pretty busy and I don't have as much time as I'd hope to work around here.

Hopefully after a couple Pythia sales we can finance some competitions to get things more active.

    Please elaborate.

I haven't seen any 'fast-moving' sites unless you are referring to skidforums, I hope not.

I think the crypter idea would have been good. It would bring members here to see how it works, plus the will want to crypt their files and learn how to make their own stub. There is a problem of attracting the wrong sort of people (like SkidForums members that leech and spam/cry).

I always though it would be cool to rent a billboard and put the opensc logo/url on it, I'm to poor to do that though. I was going to vandalize a train, but my camera broke so I would have no proof :/. I WILL print out some business cards as soon as I finish the design, but how much attention could that attract? :/

    pfft, my ideas.

I think once we have more sellers of exclusive products, it will bring traffic. Everyone wants the good stuff =] Even people who can't afford they want to have a look at the thread or the discussion about it etc

make a simple spin-off site called MarketSc (or something) specificity made for selling things and promote OpenSc all over it. and use the funds to pay for opensc idk.

opensc <- learn to code shit here!
    MarketSC <- sell shit here.

because selling shit on a website called "Open Source" is retarded :/

That seperate marketplace idea would be neat, it's also something different. I mean a 'exclusive' marketplace would be cool. Maybe only certain users allowed access there to sale, and rest of Opensc members can still purchase from there if they wish.

are your minds limited to BOT's only?
asm or C++ section is dead nowdays, it only opens up if someone wants any help.
And even after posting some good things sources, programs will get ripped to death. :-/
rather than selling develop a open source project.
Dont do a crypter please for the love of god. have seen enough of them.
develop a simple rat. //i miss PI :'(
