Sure,
Don't expect to walk into a IT Security as your first job;
I started in Desktop Support, then moved onto Server & Network Support, and then Infrastructure Support, doing things such as Patch Management, Anti Virus, Active Directory & Group Policy, etc. It was primarily Windows based, but I did also do a far bit of work on Unix/Linux/Solaris.
I recommend getting some good background knowledge on Corporate IT (Eg Windows Domains), and then start looking into doing some of the M$ Exams. You will be surprised how much you actually learn from them
Also check out some of the IT job websites and get an idea of what employers expect you to have when applying for a security job and work towards getting them.
I wouldn't recommend going for something like a CISSP, CISM, etc until your background knowledge & experience is strong. I have come across to many Test King nubs in the past who have all the qualifications under the sun, but stick them in a real world situation and they have no idea what todo.

Shit your all young punks lol.
D3ADLiN3 agreed, don't think you will get a junior security position straight up after graduation, the security jobs want hardcore coding and debugging skills, combined with pretty much every security certification under the sun.
Start with first level and work your way up, it will give you more of an understanding of the whole picture.
Cheers,
Im not a young punk ^_^

I do basic IT work because I don't have certs to do anything else, but right now I'm waiting tables in between jobs. In other words, one-fourth of my day consists of apologizing for shit that isn't my fault. I've done every job from construction to metal fabrication and welding. Going to school for C.S., thinking about changing it to E.E. after picking up a recent fascination with microcontroller programming and prototyping (thanks hackaday).
Got in a lot of security-related trouble in high school, won't go into detail.
Basically I have a wife and a daughter, I work my ass off during the day and on weekends, go to school at night (on my OWN money), and I can't stand SuperLOL's avatar.
One day I'll see the fruits of my labors but until then I'll keep fighting the good fight.
rekonstrukted I would go for Electrical Eng over CS these days, money has pitted out since the dot com boom back in the late 90's. You will find most jobs in industry have dropped salary levels, unless your a manager/exec with post grad qualifications or you're a solutions architect.
